LOW-COST LIFE SHIFTERS

  • Never underestimate the power of sunshine and fresh air.

  • Meditation in its simplest form is just bringing your attention into the present moment. Notice what is happening around you, and when your attention wanders, simply bring it back to where you are.

  • It may seem like a daunting task, but unfollowing or unfriending accounts that don't inspire or uplift you is worth the time. Taking extended breaks from social media apps altogether is also great for your mental health and focus. Remember, your phone is a tool, don't let it be the ruler of your life.

  • Whether it's with friends, family, or a professional, deep conversation and connection is necessary human need. Carve out time to intentionally move past the typical "how is your day going" or "can't believe this weather" and talk about ideas, inspirations, goals, or maybe even heavier topics weighing on your mind.

  • Ah yes, the dreaded "E word". The good news is, you don't have to do what everyone else is doing!

Find something that makes you move that you ENJOY! Dancing, hiking, swimming, playing tag with your kids, yoga, walking, weightlifting, running...you get the point.

Breaking a sweat is one of the quickest ways to have a clearer mind and a better mood. Find movement you love and do it often and consistently!

  • This is the "autotune" dial on your wellness soundboard. Aim for 7-9 hours per night if possible. Preferably in a completely dark room.

  • I'm not talking about what you eat, we'll get to that. I'm talking about what you listen to, watch, read, etc. Pay attention to how entertainment, news, or information makes you mentally feel. If you notice it's draining you, think of what you can tune into instead that will result in inspiration, passion, motivation, and joy.

  • Get rid of unnecessary excess. This may sound like a large undertaking, but start small. We all have the infamous "catch-all" space in our home or workspace. Start there and work your way into other areas of your life. If you spend time in a digital space, take time to clear excess there as well. (Unnecessary apps, documents, emails...)

  • We've all heard the latest fad diet crazes, but let's make this personal. Start a mental list (or physical if you're a note-taker) of foods that nourish you and make you FEEL good.

After eating a meal are you craving more or feeling satiated? Are you feeling sluggish or energized? Do you feel light or do you have a stomach ache?

Your body innately wants to feel good....learn its language and LISTEN.

  • Setting respectful boundaries in your life will lift a weight off your shoulders. The word "no" or better yet, "no, thank you" is NOT selfish. It is necessary.

Setting boundaries can seem scary but the only piece of a two-part interaction you can control is your part in it.

This means doing your best to make the communication in setting those boundaries respectful, clear, and aligned with your values.

The response you get may vary, but boundaries around your well-being are necessary.

Taking care of yourself doesn't always mean "me first" but it always means "me too". It is not selfish.
